The Bay and Hear Nebraska are stoked to present Spit Seeds for Proceeds: The Official Kickoff to Hear Lincoln. Come hang with us while we jam to sick beats and snack on sweet treats, among other fun activities. Get yourself to the Tower Square in downtown Lincoln on Friday, August 4 from 4:00-8:00 pm. Watermelons are free, and there’s a suggested donation of $5. All of the money will be split to support Lincoln’s very own The Bay and Hear Nebraska. Also, our friends over at Watermelon Water are donating watermelon water for the event.
While we spit our watermelon seeds, we’ll be launching this year’s Hear Lincoln concert series with live music by local artists Jack Hotel and Risky Clique. These diverse bands will play sweet sounds for everyone to relax and rock out to from 5:00-7:00 pm in the Tower Square. Jack Hotel is one of the best Americana-style bands in the Midwest and Risky Clique brings a powerful female lead vocalist to the stage.
At Spit Seeds for Proceeds, you’re encouraged to spit with the seeds from our sweet watermelon slices. Local celebrities will compete against each other to see who can spit the distance. Whoever launches their watermelon seeds the farthest will be celebrated in all their seed spitting splendor.
Snap a seed spitting picture and post it with #SpittingImage and #sweepstakesentry to raise awareness for two rad organizations. Tell us in your caption why you love The Bay and Hear Nebraska. The person with the best post will win an epic prize, including a $150 gift card to Whole Foods Market. Empowering Lincoln’s young adults and at-risk youth is what The Bay does best. They’re proudly serving the misfits and inspiring hope. Hear Nebraska is passionate about supporting local musicians. They work with every aspect of the music scene to encourage creativity and fun.
